Active proposals

Active proposals are the submitted proposals still open on a freelancer's or agency's Proposals and offers page, listed on its Active tab, where they can be opened and edited.

Upwork keeps a freelancer's proposals under Find Work, Proposals and offers. The Active tab holds the proposals that are still open, and it is where you go to change one: open it and choose Edit proposal, or edit only the terms if that is all you may still change. The same page holds invitations to apply and offers.

What you can still change. Within six hours or until the client views your proposal, whichever comes first, the cover letter, answers to client questions, profile highlights and attachments can all be edited. After that, and until the client accepts or rejects the proposal, the terms can still change: the hourly rate or fixed-price amount, the timeline or milestones, who will do the work on a fixed-price job, and delivery details. A boost can be added if the proposal went out without one, but an existing boost cannot be adjusted. If you are already talking with the client, tell them what changed.

Why the list matters. For a freelancer, active individual proposals block an exclusive invitation to an agency until they are withdrawn. For an agency, the active list is the pipeline: every entry is Connects already spent and a client who might still write.

Active is not the same as alive. The tab says a proposal has not closed. It does not say the client is still considering it; the viewed marker on the proposal and the messages in the thread say that.

How Upsight uses it. The ledger walks each connected login's proposal list many times a day, records each proposal's status, and stamps the first time it sees the client-viewed flag, so a view lands on the day it was seen and feeds the proposal view rate.
