Auto mode

Auto mode is how an Upsight campaign sends when it is not set to require approval: each drafted proposal is announced with a deadline and goes out on its own after a short review window unless someone stops it, within the daily caps per account.

Upwork's own route for AI drafting keeps a person on the last step. Its help article on AI agents says an agent can draft a proposal, and that "you'll review the proposal details and explicitly confirm the submission". Auto mode removes that per-proposal click, and it is what a campaign does unless it is set to require approval, so whether to keep it is a decision each agency should make on purpose, campaign by campaign.

How it works. Each draft gets a send deadline: the workspace's review window, which is seconds long unless changed, or a longer delay set on the campaign in minutes. The draft is posted to the campaign's chat channel with the job, the bid and the deadline, and that notice stays on unless someone turns it off, since a silent send is the one outcome nobody would choose. Anyone with access can edit, approve or reject the draft in the queue before the deadline, and a pass that runs every few minutes files what nobody stopped.

What it holds back:

  • a draft with no bid, because the job published no rate and nobody typed one;
  • a draft outside the campaign's schedule, or over the daily cap for its account;
  • a job pulled into the campaign by hand, which never sends on a timer.

These are held, not rejected, so a person can still approve them.

The trade is speed against review. Auto mode matters most where minutes count, such as clients flagged Hiring Now. Approval mode, where a person approves every proposal, suits a campaign that is new or has just changed, and a dry run shows what a campaign would send before anything is filed.

How Upsight uses it. The choice is a labelled switch on each campaign, "A person approves every proposal": off means auto mode, on means every draft waits. Late-bid campaigns start with it on.
