Hiring Now

Hiring Now is the marker on a job post whose client has turned on the hire-now setting of Upwork Now and is actively hiring, shown in the job feed and search where freelancers can filter to it; Upwork's help pages name the feature, Upwork Now, and not the badge.

Upwork Now is in beta with a limited group of clients. On the client side, "hire now" is an optional setting in the job post flow; once on, "freelancers browsing for work can see which jobs have a client who's actively hiring, and can filter to them", and the job "carries this signal automatically". On the freelancer side, the job feed and search "show which jobs have a client who's actively hiring", and turning on Work Now filters to those jobs by default. A Work Now session ends if you do not answer a client's invitation or message within five minutes, or after five minutes of inactivity; "once hired, clients expect that you start work the same day", and Work Now contracts count towards the JSS. Upwork states no cost, no Connects figure and no timer for the marker itself.

The signal is not a tag on the posting. Upwork's job API carries no field for it, and a tag named "hire-now-intent" appears on only some of the posts that show the badge, so the only reliable read is the signed-in job feed. Our probe of the feed found that roughly half of the 150 newest hiring-now jobs had turned over within ten minutes, which is the whole point of the marker: these clients are hiring in the hour, not the week.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight reads the marker from the signed-in feed and runs a Hiring Now campaign kind that matches and sends within minutes instead of on the usual sweep, with the same score and the same approval mode unless the campaign is switched to auto; the ledger then shows whether the fast lane earned the reply rate it promises.
