Availability badge

The Availability Badge is a paid "Available now" marker that Upwork shows on a freelancer's profile, in search results and in client recommendations, charged in Connects each week at a price Upwork sets.

Also written: Available now badge.

Upwork describes it as "a bright purple Available now icon that appears on your profile, in search results, and in client recommendations" and says it "can increase job invites by up to 70%". Clients can filter for freelancers who carry it when searching for talent or reviewing proposals.

The badge is paid for in Connects, continuously. The price "fluctuates according to market price" and "may change at any time, but will not change more than once a week". Upwork publishes no fixed price, only examples: at 14 Connects a week one Connect is deducted twice a day, at 21 Connects one every eight hours. You set a weekly spending limit; if the price rises above it, or your balance runs out, Upwork pauses the badge, hides it from your profile while paused, and restarts it when the price is back within your limit and you have Connects again. Agency members can pay for it from the agency's shared Connects on Agency Plus.

Because it is bought by the week and sold by the market, the badge is the one Upwork ad whose cost you cannot know in advance from the job post, which is why it belongs in a ledger rather than a budget.

How Upsight uses it. The badge's deductions arrive in the Connects history alongside proposal charges and boost bids, and Upsight's ledger reads that history, so the weekly cost of the badge appears next to the proposals and invitations it was bought to earn. Whether a profile on page one of a keyword's search results carries the badge is also part of what keyword rank tracking records.
