Profile boost

It is not a boosted proposal. A proposal boost competes for the top of one job's proposal list; a profile boost "works across Upwork search results, not just one listing".

Setting it up. From Find work, next to Boost your profile, you choose a work category and a specialty, the most Connects you will pay per click, a spending limit per day or in total, and an optional end date. When a client views a relevant search page, Upwork's ad server runs an auction on bid price and relevance; if your profile wins, it shows in the promoted section.

What you pay for. You are charged when a client clicks your profile from the boosted spot, saves it with the heart, selects Invite to job or Hire from it, or views your boost video. Repeated clicks by the same client are charged once per job post. If your balance cannot cover a charge, the boost is disabled and the Connects owed are deducted when you turn it off or restart it. You can pause, edit or turn off a boost at any time; turning off resets its settings.

Video, for some. Upwork is testing a video option for freelancers who meet at least one condition, such as holding a top badge, having verified their identity, or having spent at least 30 Connects in the past 90 days. Videos run up to 60 seconds and 100 MB, mp4 or mov, must not be AI-generated, and are usually approved within 30 minutes.

Results appear in My Stats as impressions and clicks.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight's Booster toolkit runs one boost campaign per connected login, reads the ad's own counter of Connects spent and clicks, and sets the daily impressions and clicks from My Stats next to the invitations they were bought to earn. Boost charges also land in the Connects ledger.
