Agency roster

The agency roster is Upwork's list of the people in an agency, members and business managers, shown on the agency profile and managed under Find Work, Agency Roster, where the owner or an account admin sets exclusive members' displayed rates, visibility and earnings privacy.

Also written: Agency Roster, Agency team list.

The word covers two things Upwork keeps together. Publicly, the roster is part of the agency profile: Upwork calculates it and lists members and business managers. Privately, Agency Roster is the settings page where the agency decides how its exclusive members appear.

What the roster page controls. For exclusive agency contractors only:

  • the hourly rate shown on each member's profile, which can be an average or typical rate and changed at any time;
  • the agency's own hourly rate on its public profile; with several exclusive members on different rates, the profile shows a range instead;
  • profile visibility: Public, visible to anyone including search engines; Upwork users only; or Hidden;
  • whether rates and earnings history are private, which requires visibility set to Upwork users only or Hidden.

Every agency account must carry an hourly rate, even when it bills by project.

Who can change it. Upwork is specific: only the agency owner or a member with the Account admin role can edit these settings, and "The Agency manager role by itself is not sufficient." Adding and removing people happens elsewhere, under Teams & Members, and needs Agency Plus. A member can be removed only after their contracts and proposals are closed.

Non-exclusive members still appear on the roster but keep control of their own profile settings.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight reads the agency's roster from Upwork and tracks every member on it. Whether best fit may send a proposal under a member's name is a separate choice, made per person by the workspace owner or an admin in a column labelled "Best-fit bids as", and undecided counts as off. Exclusivity does not decide it, because Upwork lets a business manager submit for any member.
