Last viewed by client

Last viewed by client is the Activity on this job line that shows how long ago the client last looked at the job's proposals, which Upwork describes as the last time the client checked for new proposals.

The line sits in the Activity on this job panel with the proposals range, the interviewing count and the invites. Upwork's guide to replying to invitations explains it in one phrase: it "will let you know the last time they checked for new proposals". It is shown as a relative time, not a date. Upwork does not define it on a help center page of its own; that guide is the closest official description.

Why it is the most useful line on the panel. The other activity figures say how crowded a job is. This one says whether anyone is still deciding. A client who looked within the hour is reviewing now, and a proposal sent now lands in front of them. A client who has not looked for days, on a post with a full range, has most likely moved on, whatever the post's status says.

What it does not tell you. It does not say the client read your proposal. Whether your own proposal was opened shows on the proposal itself, and the proposal view rate is built from that per-proposal record, not from this line.

Use it before spending Connects. Check it on any job you saved or found late. A stale client is the cheapest reason to skip a job, because the Connects for a proposal nobody reads are not refunded when the job expires without a hire.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight stores the client's last-activity time that Upwork's job data carries with each reading of a job. A late-bidding campaign can require that the client was active within a set number of hours of its check, and the Shortlist still open preset bids eight hours in only if the client was active within the last two.
