Open jobs

Open jobs is the number of a client's job posts that are still open on Upwork, shown beside jobs posted in the About the client section, counting posts the client has not yet closed or removed.

A job stays open until the client removes it. Upwork's help article describes the steps: Hire talent, then Job posts and proposals, then Remove posting from the options menu, and the client "can always come back and repost the job". Most of an active post can be edited, but a client cannot switch a job between hourly and fixed-price without closing and reposting it, and can switch a post between public and private at any time to manage how many proposals arrive.

Reading it. One open job is the job you are looking at. Several open jobs can mean a client hiring for a team or a project with several roles, or posts left open after the work was filled. Several near-identical open posts is the pattern Upwork's client rules call duplicate jobs, which it does not allow when more than one version is active at once. The article does not mention any automatic expiry for open posts.

What it does not tell you. The count does not say whether any of those jobs is still being staffed. The activity lines on the post itself, such as interviewing, invites sent and last viewed by client, say more about whether this particular job is live.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight stores the client's open-jobs count on every job record next to jobs posted, and includes it in the client block of the job that manual mode hands to a workspace's own endpoint. It is not a campaign filter.
