Profile completeness
Profile completeness is the percentage Upwork shows on the Find Work page for how much of a freelancer profile is filled in, where four required items make up the first 50% and optional sections make up the rest.

Also written: 100% complete profile, Profile completion.
Required, 50%. A profile photo, a profile overview, at least one employment history item and at least one skill tag. Without all four the profile cannot reach 100%, however much else is filled in.
Optional, the other 50%, in any combination Upwork's table allows:
- portfolio items, 5% each, up to 20%
- additional employment history, 10% each, up to 20%
- additional skill tags, 10%
- education, 10% each, up to 20%
- a profile video, 10%
- at least one other linked account, 10%
- certifications, 5% each, up to 10%
- at least one other experience item, 5%
The optional items add up to more than 50%, so there are several routes to 100%. Four portfolio items, two more jobs and a video introduction get there; so do two education entries, two certifications, a linked account and extra skill tags.
Why it matters. Upwork says you need a 100% complete profile to be eligible for Rising Talent, Top Rated "and more". It is a threshold for badges. Another Upwork page says a complete profile ranks higher in search, without saying by how much, and the ranking formula itself is not published, so treat completeness as the entry ticket rather than a lever with a known effect.
The percentage appears in the right-hand panel of the Find Work page, under your name and title.
How Upsight uses it. Upsight does not recompute Upwork's percentage. Its profile score is a separate checklist that reads the same sections, such as portfolio, skills, video and employment, and sets them against the profiles ranked for the same keyword.
