Video introduction
A video introduction is the optional YouTube video a freelancer links in the sidebar of an Upwork profile so clients can see and hear them before making contact, and it counts toward profile completeness.

Adding one takes three steps in Upwork's guide: scroll to the Video introduction option in the profile sidebar, select the plus sign, paste the YouTube link and save. The video is hosted on YouTube, not uploaded to Upwork.
Upwork's rules for it:
- upload the video to YouTube first
- disable monetization on YouTube, so no ads play on it
- follow the rest of Upwork's Terms of Service, which also rules out contact details
A profile video is one of the optional items that count toward a 100% complete profile. When Upwork retired specialized profiles, its advice to freelancers included adding or updating the video intro.
Not the same as other Upwork videos. Three other places take video, each with its own rules. A profile boost can carry its own uploaded clip for eligible freelancers, reviewed before the boost runs. A Project Catalog project and a consultation each have a gallery that accepts video. The sidebar video introduction is the only one that is a YouTube link, and the only one on the profile itself.
What Upwork does not publish. There is no figure in this guide for how a video changes profile views, invitations or search position, and Upwork's separate page on making a good intro video gives advice rather than measurements.
How Upsight uses it. Upsight's profile score checks whether a tracked profile has a video introduction, as one line of its checklist; it makes no claim about what the video does to ranking.
