Freelancer profile

Upwork's essentials guide lists the parts. A portrait photo is required before you can submit proposals. The title "spotlights your top skills and area of expertise". Only the first 250 or so characters of the overview show in the freelancer search results, so the opening line does most of the work. Then come an hourly rate, up to four service categories, an experience level of Entry Level, Intermediate or Expert, skills, education, and employment history, with up to 100 entries each for employment and other experiences. Contracts done on Upwork are added to the work history automatically. A custom profile URL of 4 to 20 letters and numbers is a Freelancer Plus perk; Basic members share the default link.

Some things may not appear at all: other people's work, links advertising services outside Upwork, and personal contact details such as an email address or phone number. Upwork treats deliberately false or misleading information as a Terms of Service breach.

Each freelancer now has one profile. Upwork has retired specialized profiles and instead reorders the single profile for each client, putting the work history, portfolio and skills that best match the search or job post first.

For an agency, the member's own profile is what a client opens from an agency proposal, so every member's profile is part of the agency's pitch, not only the agency page.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight tracks the profiles a workspace names and keeps a daily record of what each one shows in search: Job Success Score, total earnings, jobs, hours and rate. Bidder's Client View lays out each sent proposal with the profile as the client sees it, and the profile score compares a profile with the ones ranked for the same keyword.
