Project Catalog
Project Catalog is Upwork's marketplace of fixed-scope projects that freelancers list with up to three price tiers and clients buy directly, without posting a job or reviewing proposals.
Updated
Upwork tells clients the Catalog holds "more than 290,000 projects" they can buy "without posting a job or reviewing proposals", each listing showing price, scope, timing, the freelancer's rating and samples. A freelancer builds a project with "up to three" tiers (Starter, Standard and Advanced), optional add-ons such as faster delivery, up to five search tags, and a price anywhere from $5 to $500,000; up to 20 projects can be live with another 20 under review, every listing is reviewed before publishing, and a concurrency limit of up to 20 orders can be set.
Buying is a checkout, not a proposal. The client picks a tier, funds the order, pays a one-time Contract Initiation Fee of $0.99 to $14.99 on the contract, and submits requirements; the delivery timeline starts when the requirements arrive, and an order with no requirements after 48 hours is cancelled and refunded. After delivery the client has 14 days to review, and funds release automatically at the end of them. The freelancer service fee on a Catalog project is the same 0% to 15% that applies to other contracts.
No Connects are spent and no invitation is needed, which makes the Catalog the one Upwork channel where the cost of a lead is zero and the whole question is visibility.
How Upsight uses it. Upsight's Services module reads a workspace's Catalog listings and their category pages, scores each listing and profiles who sits on page one of its category, so an agency can see whether a project is being found before it asks why it is not being bought.
