Upwork's fee article lists what a Business Plus client pays. A 10% fee applies to all freelancer payments, covering hourly and fixed-price contracts, Project Catalog purchases and bonuses. Some U.S. clients may qualify for a reduced 8% fee by paying with a checking account. A Contract Initiation Fee of up to $4.99 USD per contract applies to new contracts under $100 USD, but a client with an active Business Plus plan is not charged it on hourly contracts. Monthly invoicing on Net 30 terms carries no extra fee but needs an application. The article lists no separate monthly subscription.
Plan changes are immediate for fees. Upgrading or downgrading changes the billing structure at once: open contracts and new contracts both follow the new plan's fees. Only an owner or admin on the client account can change the plan.
What the client gets. Upwork's plan pages list access to Expert-Vetted talent and a search filter for it, curated shortlists through Uma Recruiter, more invitations and direct messages per job, premium support by chat, phone or email, advanced reporting, Direct Contracts for talent found elsewhere, and bulk actions for milestones on fixed-price contracts.
What it means for freelancers. A Business Plus client is paying for help narrowing the field, so more of their hires start from a shortlist or an invitation than from the open proposal list. Expert-Vetted status matters more with these clients than with most. The help pages read for this entry do not describe a marker on the job post that shows a client's plan.
