Where Project Catalog is the marketplace, a catalog project is one shelf item in it. Upwork reviews each one for professionalism and Terms of Service compliance, and may check grammar and spelling too.
How long review takes. Top Rated, Top Rated Plus and Expert-Vetted freelancers "typically have projects reviewed within two business days". For everyone else Upwork says it may take a few weeks, depending on submission volume.
What Upwork reviews, section by section:
- Overview: the title, category, project attributes and search tags. The category must be a service Upwork allows; pre-made products such as crafts or off-the-shelf software are refused.
- Pricing: the packages and add-ons you define, see catalog tiers. Custom tier or add-on text is checked for contact details and policy breaches.
- Gallery: images and video, checked for cropping, resolution, text density, accuracy and clickbait or competitor logos.
- Description: project summary, steps and FAQs, free of contact and payment details.
- Requirements: what you ask the client for before work starts.
After approval. You can edit a live project at any time, and Upwork may review it again. A change of category takes the project off the catalog while it is reviewed; other edits leave it on sale unless Upwork has a particular concern. A separate visibility toggle hides a project from the catalog without deleting it.
A sale of a catalog project is a catalog order.
How Upsight uses it. Upsight's Services module reads each listing's view and order counts from the seller's own project dashboard, and scans category pages to see which listings sit on page one, so an agency can tell a listing nobody finds from one that is found and not bought.
