Job alerts
Job alerts are Upwork's instant notifications of newly posted jobs similar to ones you have already proposed to, available on the Freelancer Plus plan and driven only by proposals you submitted as an individual freelancer.

Upwork describes instant alerts as sent "immediately after a similar job is posted". Eligibility has two parts: an active Freelancer Plus plan, and at least one proposal submitted to an active job. The alerts are built from your proposal history, so applying outside your skill area makes them less relevant.
Settings. From the bell icon, the Job alerts tab and Alert preferences let you choose email, mobile app notifications or both, limit alerts to hourly or fixed-price jobs, and set the lowest rate you will consider. Upwork recommends the app as the fastest channel. An alert can point to a post that is gone, because the client or Upwork removed it.
The agency gap. Proposals submitted through an agency do not count. Only jobs you apply to independently shape your alerts, so an agency that bids through a business manager gets no alert signal from its own bidding.
Other on-platform options. Saved job searches appear on your feed, the job digest email goes to Rising Talent, Top Rated and Top Rated Plus freelancers, and the recommended feed is matched to your profile. The old RSS feed is no longer one of them.
What to avoid. Upwork's automation article lists job alert or watcher tools that scrape or run searches among the browser extensions that can trigger a restriction, and points to instant alerts instead.
How Upsight uses it. A campaign is a standing job alert with a decision attached: it matches new jobs on keywords and filters, scores them, and posts suitable leads and drafts to the Slack, Discord or Telegram destination the campaign names.
