Jobs completed

Jobs completed is the count of jobs a freelancer has done through Upwork, shown on the profile and on search result tiles, which Upwork names as an input to its talent search but does not define on a help page of its own.

Upwork has no help article for this figure. The closest official statement is in its client guide to searching for talent: the search algorithm uses "platform-generated data, such as number of completed projects and client feedback", together with what freelancers write about their services. So the count matters to ranking in some measure, but Upwork does not say how much, and does not publish the formula.

What Upwork does not explain. It does not say whether a contract with no earnings counts, whether jobs still in progress are included, whether Project Catalog orders and agency contracts are counted the same way, or how a refunded or disputed job is treated. Read the number as Upwork's own tally of finished work, and read the work history beside it, which lists each contract with its dates, feedback and earnings where they are not hidden.

How it relates to other figures. The Job Success Score is built from contract outcomes, not from a raw count, and ignores some contracts entirely. Total earnings and hours worked sit beside the job count on the profile and are, in Upwork's words on its earnings page, estimates. A high count with low earnings usually means many small jobs; few jobs with high earnings usually means long contracts. Neither pattern is a ranking signal Upwork confirms.

For clients and competitors. Freelancer Plus proposal insights include average jobs and earnings of the freelancers who applied to the same post, so the count is also how bidders size up each other.

How Upsight uses it. Upsight records the job count that each tracked profile shows in search every day. The profile score compares it with the counts of the profiles ranked for the same keyword, and a missing count is marked hidden rather than zero.
